The mystery of love is greater than the mystery of death.Unknown

This memorial website was created to remember our dearest mother, mom-mom, and friend Christina Stallings who was born in Kaduna, Nigeria on December 22, 1929 and passed away in San Francisco, CA on March 27, 2013. You will live forever in our memories and hearts.

5th Year Memorial, March 27th, 2018
If roses grow in Heaven, Lord pick a bunch for me. Place them in my mother’s arms and tell her they’re from me. Tell her that I love and miss her, and when she turns to smile, place a kiss upon her cheek and hold her for a while. Because remembering her is easy, I do it everyday. There is an ache within my heart that will never go away. Rest In Peace Mom. March 27, 2013.

4th Year Remembrance, March 27th 2017

Loving and kind in all her ways,
Upright and just to the end of her days;
Sincere and true, in her heart and mind,
Beautiful memories, she left behind.

2ND YEAR REMEMBRANCE, MARCH 27TH 2015

The second year has come already and many of us are far away from the gravesite to pay our respects.  I'm in Cape Town with Arese and just read what I wrote on my memory card we buried at the unveiling and one year remembrance last year.
what moment best reveals her character: KINDNESS, revealed thru her cooking for us and friends. she would bring food to me at UCLA, send Nene food by UPS, make mofe food on demand, and make sure there was food for visitors.
part of her I will never forget: HER SACRIFICE ENVELOPED BY LAUGHTER, she worked hard to give her children the best and we never heard her complain or knew her sacrifices, instead we heard plenty of laughter from her, filled with joy, life and love.  Struggle was second nature but she was never beaten down.
in what did she find greatest joy: IN HER CHILDREN, she was always so proud of me and would boost to her friends in an almost exaggerated way. She also loved her grandchildren immensely and found joy in their company and watching them grow up.
what did you learn from her: DETERMINATION, she would say don’t let anyone distract you! she believed in me and that anything was possible with hard work and faith. She was not a quitter.
other moments I remember are her singing, brown sing girl to Arese, que sera sera, her sewing late nights, loud tv late nights, her exclamations MY GOD!, a great kind and loving mother and friend.
Mom you are someone I and many people cannot and will not forget.  As Easter is approaching and we remember and celebrate Christ defeating death, we rejoice in the memories we shared with you.

ONE YEAR REMEMBRANCE, MARCH 27TH 2014

Our mother's one year remembrance and unveiling of her pedestal bust was held on March 27th 2014 and was yet another glorious celebration of her life. It was attended by 70 of her family and friends, with about 30 regrets from people who were unable to attend.

It started out by guests filling out memory cards recounting the most important memories they had of Christina.  An opening prayer was led by daughter, Nene, followed by Psalms 1 and 16 read by son, Mofe and granddaughter, Karis.  A Eulogy by son, Mosh and readings from mom's favorite spiritual teacher Florence Shinn, read by daughter, Temi.  Harpist, Rick Tan played intermediately throughout the service allowing people to reflect and finishing writing their memory cards.

The unveiling of the pedestal bust was revealed by daugther, Nene and granddaughter, Karis, who read the epitaph on the bust, "As I Am One With God, I Am Now One With My Heart's Desires".  The laying of the wreath was done by son, Mosh and granddaughter, Arese. Father Paul from St. Paul of the Shipwreck Catholic Church blessed the bust with holy water and prayed.  This was followed by a group memorial prayer read by All guests, praying for her soul.

Friends, Christine Davis, Charlene White and Dr. Toye Moses shared their memories of Christina.

Robyn Thomas read mom's favorite Pslam 23, while daughter, Nene collected the memory cards and son, Mofe buried them next to the bust.  Daughter, Temi presented a piece of Christina's late Husband's tombstone she collected from Nigeria earlier this year, which was set in a large stone and laid as a marker on top of the buried memory cards.  The inscription read, "May they delight in the reunion of their love, purified into the vision of God".

A closing prayer was led by daughter, Nene and Thank you by son, Mofe.  All gathered to view the bust and take pictures.  A festive reception followed at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, Half Moon Bay, CA where more memories of Christina were shared by friends and family.

It ended with a comforting poem of how memories can be just as precious as the time spent with Christina.

As time unfolds another year
Memories keep you ever near,
Silent thoughts of time together
Hold memories that will last forever.
Gone is the face we loved so dear
Silence is the voice we used to hear,
Too far away for sight or speech,
But not far for thought to reach,
Sweet to remember her once here,
Who, thought absent, is just as dear.

We love and miss you mom!

HER LAST WORDS : "I WANT CALM"

This Saturday marks one month since our mom passed. We plan to visit her gravesite and I continue onto Monterey/Carmel for the weekend and reflect on her last words before she died. "I want calm." Please Family and Friends meditate on these words, her love, spirit and all what she taught us and sacrificed for her children and hopefully the wonderful person she was can continue to live in and thru you, your thoughts and actions. They say healing is 99% desire and 10% help. If your desire for a calm spirit whenever stressed or troubled is the answer then God only has to give you 10% of his time, yet we know he gives us 100%.  May God bless you with the opportunity and time to heal and give you the spirit of calm when troubled.

Love,
Temi
